Royals Triumph Over St. Norbert

November 6, 2010

The Royals Defeated St. Norberts 6-3
BOX SCORE

BLAINE, Minn. - The Bethel Royals Women's Hockey team triumphed over the Saint Norbert Green Knights. The game followed a 5-0 loss against the University of Wisconsin- River Falls Falcons, but the Royals came hungry today in search of their second win, making their record, (2-2-0).

Kassy Sullivan (Sr., Roseville, MN) started out the scoring with a short-handed goal 7:52 seconds into the first, then just over a minute later Christina Masten (Fr., Fergus Falls, MN) put the Royals up by two. The Green Knights responded with a goal at 12:03 in the first by, Karissa Anderson (Fr. Beaver Dam).

While the Green Knights scored again in the second, they were unable to come any closer to the Royals, who were aggressive at the puck resulting in several odd-man rushes and break-aways. This effort lead to two goals being scored by Bethel in the second period. One by Sarah Kartak (So., Lakeville, MN) and another by Christina Masten (Fr. Fergus Falls,MN).

In the third period the Royals did not hold back and scored another goal. This time it was senior Allison Papko (Winneipeg, Manitoba) who now records 3 goals for the season. The Green Knights did not give up by scoring one more, by Lauren Staus (Fr., Henderson, NV), but the deficit was too great and the nail was driven into the coffin by Rachel Geng (Jr., South St. Paul) who scored on the open net with 28 seconds left.

The efforts of the Bethel Royals Women's team today displayed their passion and skill for the name of Hockey. Join us for our next home game when the Royals battle the College of St. Benedict on November 12th at the Bethel University Arena in Blaine, MN. Puck drops at 8 p.m.
