BOX SCORE

BLAINE, MN -  The Bethel Women's Hockey team were swept this weekend by Gustavus Adolphus College.  The first was a defeat by 4-1 and the second by 2-0, with an open net goal.  The Royals fought hard against a physical team but the Gusties net minder was focused and kept the Royals shut out.

The first period went by without any scoring from either team.  This game had a definitive change of pace since last night's battle against the Gusties.  Although the Royals had several chances in the first they were unable to convert on them which resulted in taking the intermission while still even with Gustavus.

The Gusties came out and scored quickly in the second as a puck slipped through Jess Newstrom's crease 2:19 into the period.  Bethel was unable to answer back on a 5-3 advantage later in the period due to the rough style that the Gusties play. 

The Royals did not go away with out several in-front of the net opportunities, yet they still were not hitting the back of the net.  While Jess Newstrom kept the team in the game but a late open net goal sealed their tough defeat. 

Join the Royals at home on January 21st as they take on St. Mary's University.  After a long break, the puck will drop at 7:00 p.m.
