BOX SCORE
ST. CLOUD, MN - Bethel University Women's Hockey chalked up another 'W' for their record on November 11th. The bout against St. Benedict University resulted in a 5-2 victory and gives the Royals a 1-0-0 record in the MIAC (1st) and an overall record of 3-2-0.
The first period was intense as spectators saw both teams battle away for control of the game. Yet, both teams went into their locker rooms empty handed.
The second period provided the action everyone was looking for when St. Benedict broke the standoff by scoring only 2 minutes into the period with the man advantage. The Royals struck back, and quickly, as
Kassy Sullivan (Sr., Roseville, Minn.) scored only 20 seconds after St. Benedict.
The Senior forward opened the floodgate as the Bethel Royals scored again a little more than a minute later, by
Jenna Dean (So., Northford, Conn.). The onslaught continued with
Allison Papko (Sr., Winnepeg, Manitoba) scoring on the power play, Dean scoring again, and finally
Cristina Masten (Fr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) scoring late in the second on the power play.
St. Benedict answered back with one last goal late in the second, but the pounding that the Royals inflicted was seemingly too much for their opponent to remain in the game. Without any scoring in the 3rd period, the Royals coasted into their first conference win.
