Box Score

SUPERIOR, Wis. -
The Bethel Royals crossed the border tonight to take on the UW-Superior Yellow Jackets in a non-conference matchup. The Royals rallied from an early two goal deficit in the first period, but could never pull ahead, eventually falling 3-2 to the #9-ranked Yellow Jackets.

The Royals fell behind in the first period after goals by Chelsey Wierschem and Jasmine Pollock. But the Royals came back in the second with two goals of their own to tie the game. Kassy Sullivan (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) tallied the first with the help of Biz Huss (Fr., Beaver Bay, Minn.) and Paige Lemieux (So., Fargo, N.D.) scored her first goal of the year to tie the game just over a minute later on the power play with the assists going to Hillary Hartwig (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) and Anna Carlson (So., Roseville, Minn.). The two teams headed into the third period tied at two apiece before Superior's Jodi Holland notched the game winner with just under five minutes remaining. The Royals were unable to score with the extra-attacker as Yellow Jacket goalie Amie Meyer withstood the final flurry of shots.

The Royals outshot the Yellow Jackets 23-19 on the night and finished 1-for-5 on the power play. Nicole Jones (So., Mora, Minn.) recorded 16 saves on the night, giving her 58 over the past two games.

With the loss, the Royals fall to 0-6 overall, and remain 0-2 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-3-1 overall. The Royals will be back in action at 7 p.m., Friday Dec. 4, as they play host to the Concordia College Cobbers in an important MIAC conference match-up.
