RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Bethel women's hockey travelled across the border today to take on the nationally ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons. The Royals found no love at Hunt Arena as they suffered a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Falcons. River Falls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back scoring two goals in the first period to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
The two goals would prove to be enough, as the Royals struggled to generate any offense this afternoon. The Falcons would go on to add two more goals in the second period before the Royals got on the board thanks to a goal from
Rachael Geng (So., South St. Paul, Minn.) with assists from
Sarah Kartak (Fr., Lakeville, Minn.) and
Cali Miller (Fr., Burnsville, Minn.). River Falls added another power-play goal in the second to increase their lead and put the score at 5-1.
The score remained the same throughout the third period as the Falcons shut down any chances the Royals had. With the win, River Falls moves to 3-0-1 on the year while the Royals are now at 0-3. Bethel continues its season next weekend as they take on MIAC opponent Gustavus Adolphus College Friday night in their conference opener at the Schwan's Super Rink.
