Bethel sweeps Buena Vista 3-0

RIVER FALLS, Wis.
- For the second straight weekend, the Bethel University volleyball team is participating in a tournament hosted by a University of Wisconsin school. This weekend, the Royals, along with St. Catherine, Hamline, Bethany Lutheran, St. Olaf, Buena Vista and host UW-River Falls are scheduled to play in the UW-River Falls Invitational Tournament.

The Royals started off the tournament strong with a clean sweep of the Buena Vista University Beavers, winning three straight sets and taking the match 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-13).

The match was dominated by some of Bethel's top hitters. Both Kelly Otto (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) and Jennifer Stoa (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) finished the match with double digit kills at 14 and 12, respectively. Hannah Parks (So., Plymouth, Minn.) came away with seven kills along with three blocks assists for 8.5 points. Besty Naatjes (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) helped fuel the offensive attack with an impressive 30 set assists.

The puts the Royals at 1-0 in the tournament and 3-2 in their season, while Buena Vista drops to 2-3 overall. Bethel will continue their tournament play later today against UW-River Falls beginning at 8 p.m.
