ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The Bethel Royals were unable to break out of their scoring funk today as they were topped by the Saint Benedict Blazers 3-0.

The Royals put a total of seven shots on net in the game, a majority of which came in the first half.  Both Krista Polding (So., Waconia, Minn.) and Sophie Christiansen (Fr., Portland, Ore.) had two shots on net apiece.

Once again, the goalkeeper for the Royals, Charli Sorensen (Sr., Park Ridge, Ill.), played a big role in the game today, as she saved eight of the 11 shots that the Blazers put on net. Sorensen now has 61 saves for the season, which places her in the top spot for saves in the MIAC. She is also third in the MIAC in save percentages with .836 and needs just 19 more to set a new Bethel school record.

The goals were scattered throughout the game. The first came late in the first half at 42:15, scored by Chelsi Larson, assisted by Annie Haws and Stephanie Gibbs. Allison Tourville, of the Blazers, put the second goal in 56:38 minutes into the game, which was assisted by Tina Lisk. The Blazers final goal was scored by Allison Draxler, unasssisted, at just over the 82 minute mark of the game.

The loss puts Bethel at 1-3-1 in MIAC play and 6-3-1 overall.  Saint Benedict is now 2-2 in MIAC play and 5-3 overall. The Royals look to get back to their winning ways in their match against Carleton, which is scheduled for Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. in Northfield, Minn.
