St. Catherine tops Bethel 2-0

ST. PAUL, Minn.- Bethel was unable to put a shot in the net for the third straight game, as the College of St. Catherine Wildcats defeat the Royals 2-0.

St. Catherine did not waste anytime as they put a shot past Bethel goalkeeper, Charli Sorenson (Sr., Park Ridge, Ill.), at 1:57 into the game. The goal was scored by Madeliene Bickel, assisted by Kelsey Nistler.

Sorenson shutdown the Wildcats for the rest of the first half and for a majority of the second half of the game, making a total of five saves in the game. The second Wildcat goal was scored at just over the 82 minute mark of the game by Nistler, assisted by Mikaelyn Llewellyn.

The Royals had a total of four shots on net in the game. Two of those shots came from Kristin Kishaba (Sr., Eau Claire, Wis.), as well as Sophie Christiansen (Fr., Portland, Ore.) and Krista Polding (So., Waconia, Minn.) each getting a single shot on net.

The Bethel University women's soccer team is now 1-2-1 in MIAC play and 6-2-1 overall, and St. Catherine is 2-1 in MIAC play and 4-2-1 overall.  The Royals are scheduled to play their next game in St. Joseph, Minn., against Saint Benedict, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m.
