ST. PAUL, Minn. - In the waning minutes of tonight's conference match-up between the Bethel Royals and the Macalester Scots, the Royals once again had their hearts broken with a 1-0 loss.

Scott Petesch's goal assisted by Mike Samuelson with two minutes remaining lifted Macalester to victory in an otherwise solid performance by goalkeeper Nick Kantor (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.). Kantor has given up just four goals in three conference games, but hasn't had any offensive support for five consecutive games.

The Royals mustered just five shots and only two shots on goal all night - one in each half. Macalester fired off 16 shots, and six on goal. The one shot that went in was as the result of a volley 15 feet in front of the net.

Bethel sinks to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the MIAC, while Macalester earns their first conference victory of the season to become 4-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference. The Royals will once again try to snap their seven game slide when they host Saint John's next Tuesday afternoon at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex beginning at 4 p.m.
