Macalester snaps Bethel's undefeated streak at eight games

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.-
The Bethel University women's soccer team's undefeated streak ended at eight games in a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the Macalester Scots today at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.

The Royals controlled the ball for a majority of the first half of the game, but were unable to put a shot past the Scots goalkeeper.  Bethel had a total of four shots on net for the game, coming from four different players.

The Scots had a total of 10 shots on net, and managed to put one past Royal goalkeeper Charli Sorenson (Sr., Park Ridge, Ill.), late in the game at just over the 70 minute mark. The goal was scored by Rose Betzler, unassisted.

Notably absent from today's game for Macalester was 2007 MIAC Player of the Year and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All-American, Grace King.  King is currently out with a knee injury.

The loss brings Bethel's record to 1-1-1 in the MIAC and 6-1-1 overall, and Macalester is now 1-1 in the MIAC and 3-2 overall. Bethel is scheduled to play a long stretch of away games, beginning Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. against the College of St. Catherine.
