Box Score
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Royals entered today's game looking to bounce back from a pair of defeats at the hands of the #4 team in the nation. However, Bethel was unable to recover from a rocky first inning and dropped their fifth game in a row, 9-3.
Relief pitcher
Charitey Rowden (So., Shellsburg, Iowa) was able to come in and stop the bleeding, but the damage had already been done. The Auggies scored seven runs in the first two innings, and their pitchers kept Bethel's bats at bay.
Molly Trombley (Sr., Stacy, Minn.),
Tonia Erickson (So., Welcome, Minn.), and
Lauren Habisch (So., Lakeville, Minn.) each had two hits, while
Karina Roe (Jr., Grey Eagle, Minn.) had two runs batted in to lead the Royals at the plate.
Jessa Hinz did the most damage to the Royals by going 3-for-5 with three runs and three runs batted in.
Bethel is now mathematically eliminated from the playoffs as they drop to 17-17 overall and 9-10 in the MIAC. Augsburg improves to 18-21 overall and 14-7 in the conference. The same two teams will square off against each other tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. for the second game of their doubleheader at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
