ST. PETER, Minn.
- Bethel entered today's doubleheader with Gustavus hoping to continue their hot streak that has seen them win six of their last seven games.

Unfortunately, the Gusties prevent the Royals from winning today, taking both games by scores of  8-0 and 9-0, respectively.

Newly crowned MIAC Pitcher of the Week Nea Harkness (So., Winthrop, Minn.) started game one for Bethel and got through three scoreless innings before surrendering a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.  In the fifth inning, the flood gates opened and Gustavus put seven runs on the scoreboard to evoke the eight-run mercy rule.

Little changed in game two as the Gusties got to starting pitcher Rebecca Akerson (Fr., Lakeville, Minn.) for all nine of their runs in the first inning, forcing her to exit the game after just two-thirds of an inning pitched.

Bethel bats were only able to muster four hits combined between the two games.

The losses drop Bethel to 3-3 in the conference and 11-10 overall.  Gustavus improves to 7-3 in the MIAC and 17-5 overall.  The Royals are scheduled to return home to take on Concordia-Moorhead tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex for their next games.
