KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Bethel returned to the courts today after nearly a two-week hiatus.  The Royals showed little rust as they handed Merrimack College of Massachusetts an 8-1 loss at Oak St. Park.

Bethel had a clean sweep in singles play and took two out of three matches in doubles.  Top singles player Chris Scheevel (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) defeated Adam Wilding 6-2, 6-2 before joining Tom Ronning (So., Alexandria, Minn.) to win doubles 8-2.

After falling in his first set 4-6, Ronning (So., Alexandria, Minn.) rallied to defeat John Seaward 6-0 and 10-2 in the tiebreaker for a win.  David Torres (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) also needed a tiebreaker set to fend off Steve Viglione in their match.

The win helps Bethel improve to 3-4 on the season, while Merrimack falls to 2-2.  The Royals will take on Luther College of Decorah, Iowa, later this afternoon for their next match.
