ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
- Bethel's attempt to sweep the season series against Concordia came up short in their 66-62 loss to the Cobbers today at the Robertson Center.

The Royals had a chance to tie the game at 64-64 with less than a minute to play, but it was not to be.  Concordia held their two point edge, and then proceeded to make both their free throws after a foul on their ensuing possession to put the game away.

Bethel, who played without an injured Cory Laugen (Jr., Blaine, Minn.), trailed by one point at halftime, 37-36.  The Royals were 5-for-6 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes with Nick Otterson shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point land, keeping the Royals in the game.  Otterson finished the night as Bethel's leading scorer with 16 points.

The Royals seldom led during the game, and when they did, their lead was never more than two points.

Tim Madson (Jr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) and Mike Moberg (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) each finished the night with 14.  Moberg also came down with eight rebounds, and was 8-for-10 from the free throw line.

Concordia used a spread out scoring attack, with only two players finishing in double figures.  Luke Linz earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, including a key rebound after a missed Bethel shot in the final minute.  John Fraase was Concordia's leading scorer with 14 points.

The Royals drop to 12-9 overall and 8-8 in the MIAC, which is good for a tie for sixth place with Augsburg.  The Royals and Auggies will tip off against each other to close out the season on February 23.  Concordia improves to 11-10 overall and 10-6 in conference play and holds down the third spot in the standings.  Bethel will hit the road to take on St. Olaf next Wednesday night in Northfield at 7:30 p.m. for their next game.
