ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -
Annegret Nautsch (Jr., Seattle, Wash.) became just the second Royal in team history to clear 300 rebounds in a season by securing 22 to finish with 303, narrowly eclipsing Karen Almeroth's 25-year old record of 302.  Her efforts were part of a near triple-double performance, as she finished with a season high 29 points, and just two blocks shy of 10 for the afternoon.  All this added up to an 80-60 win over Augsburg.

The Royals win helps them close the season on a winning note, claiming victories in three of their last four games.  Bethel seldom trailed at all today, leading the Auggies 38-26 at the half.

Erica Hormig (So., Windom, Minn.) also came up big for the Royals today, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds.  She shot 7-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the line.  The starting forward also blocked four shots, had an assist and a steal.

The Auggies were forced to play without their leading point scorer, Christa Suedbeck, as she was sidelined with the flu.  Suedbeck had been averaging 12.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game and had been Nautsch's statistical counterpart for much of the season.  Michelle Richter stepped up to be Augsburg's leading scorer with 14 points.  She also had four steals and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.  Kristina Lurken and Megan Krumrie each finished with 11 points to round out the Auggies top scorers.

Even if Bethel had defeated Macalester on Wednesday, they still would have fallen short of the playoffs as Hamline defeated Macalester today to secure their post season berth.

Bethel closes the books on the 2007-08 season with a 12-13 overall record and 9-13 record in conference play.  Augsburg falls to 7-18 overall and 5-17 in the MIAC.  The Royals will not graduate any seniors from the team, making coach Herbrechtsmeyer very optimistic about the potential for next season.
