ST. PAUL, Minn.
- The Bethel Royals men's tennis team opened up their season with a home match against Carleton at the Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center at Fort Snelling today, but fell to the Knights by a score of 8-1.

Tom Ronning (So., Alexandria, Minn.) was Bethel's lone match winner, as he defeated Winston Park in singles play 6-3, 6-1.

David Torres (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) took his opponent to an extra game, but ultimately lost 7-6 in the second set, and thus lost the match as well.

Bethel is now 0-1 overall and in conference play, while Carleton improves to 2-0 in the MIAC and 5-0 overall.  The Royals will take on Lawrence University as part of a tournament hosted by UW-Eau Claire next Saturday starting at noon for their next match.
