BLAINE, Minn.
- In a stark contrast to last night's game that saw the Royals score seven goals, Bethel and Augsburg played a much more even game through two and a half periods of play, but only in terms of the score. The Royals won a majority of the face-offs and outshot Augsburg by nearly a 2.5 to 1 ratio on their way to a 4-2 win today at home.

Despite overwhelming puck control displayed by Bethel in the first few minutes of the game, the Auggies destroyed any illusions that the Royals may have had about pushing them over like the previous night as they scored the first goal at 3:59 into the first period. Whitney Restemayer, who had an assist on Augsburg's lone goal last night, scored with the help of Alison Ulseth and Andrea Toft.

But Bethel came back and Kassy Sullivan evened the score at 1-1 when she knocked the puck in the net with the help of Olivia Paulseth (Fr., Duluth, Minn.) just before the midway point of the first period.

The score remained unchanged until 5:36 into the third period when Kali Holst scored with an assist credited to Tiffany Magnuson to put Augsburg back up on top 2-1.

A resilient Bethel team fought back, starting with a shorthanded unassisted goal scored by Rachael Geng (Fr., So. St. Paul, Minn.). Geng took the puck coast to coast, starting down at near Bethel's goal and began weaving her way in and out of Auggie defenders paths to put her shot in, tying the game at 2-2.

From that point on, it was all Royals as Anna Baumgarten (Sr., Elmhurst, Ill.), playing in her first game of the season, score her first goal of the season with the help of Bethany Murphy-Aultman (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Jenna Bullock (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.).  Murphy-Aultman went on to score the next goal to pad Bethel's lead with assists going to Paulseth and Sullivan.

Beth Spurrier (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) recorded 19 saves in the win, while Augsburg goaltender Toni Menth did all she could to stop Bethel's scoring attack, often making several saves in front of the net, and blocked 46 of Bethel's 50 shots on goal.

The win gives Bethel a 2-0 record in the MIAC and a 2-3 record overall. Augsburg drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss. The Royals are scheduled to play against Saint Benedict next Friday at home beginning at 7 p.m. for their next game.
