Bethel comes up just short against Augsburg

MINNEAPOLIS - Nearing the end of their season, every game is a big game for the Royals. In tonight's match against the Augsburg Auggies the Bethel Royals played tough, taking the match to a fifth set, but were unable to overtake the Auggies as they were defeated 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-13, 18-25, 15-6).

Four Royals had double-digit points in the match. Jennifer Stoa (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Kelly Otto (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) led the team with 12 each.  Stoa had nine kills and six block assists, while Otto had 11 kills and two block assists in the match. Only half a point back from them with 11.5 points was Nicole Wriedt (Fr., Pewaukee, Wis.), who had ten kills and three block assists. Rounding out the double-digit point scorers was Chelsea Falck (Sr., DeForest, Wis.) with eight kills, two service aces, and two block assists, totaling 11 points.

The Auggies proved to be strong offensively as their top scorer, Breann Woefel, had 16 kills, four service aces, and one block assist, for a total of 20.5 points.

After tonight's match the Royals are 2-6 in MIAC play and 9-15 overall and the Auggies record now sits at 3-5 in the MIAC and 15-11 overall. Bethel is next scheduled to continue conference play in an away match against St. Olaf on Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
