MINNEAPOLIS
- Underneath the lights of Edor Nelson Field on the campus of Augsburg College, the Bethel Royals battled for 90 minutes with the Auggies, only for the regulation time period to end in a 0-0 tie. Less than three minutes into the overtime period, one team emerged victorious, while the other left the field after suffering another heartbreaking loss.

For the Royals, the 1-0 overtime loss to the Auggies marked the fifth time this season they had been defeated by just one goal, and the second time they had been defeated in overtime.

"It's not for lack of effort," said Head Coach Pepe Jon Chavez. "What else can you say? Our guys went out there and competed against a tough team and played with a lot of heart. It's unfortunate that they don't have anything to show for it in the standings."

Bethel was able to muster just three shots, with Andreas Scott (So., Cedar, Minn.) and Brandon Peplinski (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) accounting for all of them. Goalkeeper Nick Kantor (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) had his work cut out for him all evening, making eight saves in the first half, and another four in the second half for a total of 12. However, it was the one that got by him that made the difference in the game.

Nick Anderson scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Simon Rekkebo from 25 yards out at the 92:40 mark of the game, giving the Auggies the sudden death win.

The loss drops Bethel back to 3-11 overall and 1-7 in the conference. Meanwhile, Augsburg continues to make a strong case for their inclusion in the upcoming MIAC playoffs with a 6-2 conference record and 8-2-4 record overall. The Royals are scheduled to remain on the road for their next game as they will head down to New Ulm, Minn., to take on Martin Luther next Tuesday at 3 p.m.
