ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -
The Bethel men's basketball team was unable to begin the new year the way they had hoped, as they fell 66-57 to Saint John's.

The Royals led by as many as seven points early in the first half, but the Johnnies controlled the last 30 minutes, leading by as many as 13 late in the game.

Tim Madson (Jr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) again had an impressive performance by scoring 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds.  Mike Moberg (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) added 10 rebounds and seven points of his own, but it would not be enough.

The Johnnies managed to have three players with double digit points, led by Ryan Lieser who had 20.  Lieser was 4-for-8 from the perimeter and played all but two minutes of the game.

Bethel drops to 1-3 in MIAC play and 5-4 overall.  Saint John's improves to 3-2 in the MIAC and 6-4 overall.  The Royals will try to regroup against St. Thomas next Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Schoenecker Arena.
