BLAINE, Minn. - The Royals and Cobbers faced off against each other again this afternoon, and in a repeat performance of last night, Concordia came out on top 3-1.
Bethel came out strong in the first period and owned the puck for the first four minutes of the game, but was unable to produce any points, despite a couple of good shots on goal.
Concordia scored at the 7:13 mark of the first period to go ahead 1-0. It wasn't until 13:25 in the second period that
Sandra Felten (Jr., Cashton, Wis.) tied the game with her team-leading 10th goal of the season with the help of
Bethany Murphy-Aultman (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and
Kassy Sullivan (Fr., Roseville, Minn.). Murphy-Aultman's assist put her at 63 career points, which ties her with Emily Louwsma for second in the Bethel scoring record book.
The Cobbers went on to sneak another goal in with less than a minute to play in the second period, and then added an empty net goal to round out their scoring.
Concordia made Bethel pay for their penalties as they capitalized on two of their four opportunities. They also added a shorthanded goal for the second game in a row.
The loss drops Bethel to 3-7 in the MIAC and 6-9-1 overall. Concordia improves to 6-2-2 in the conference and 6-7-2 overall. The Royals will stay at home for their next game when they face off against Hamline at 7 p.m. next Friday night.
