APPLETON, Wis.
- Barely 48 hours after falling to Gustavus in a game that saw four goals scored in the last 5:06, the Royals found themselves involved in another high-scoring affair.  Bethel scored two goals in the span of just under five minutes to come away with a 6-6 tie against Lawrence University.

The 13th minute of the second period alone provided more scoring action than the entire first period as Lawrence scored a goal merely 10 seconds after Brad Peterson (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) had put Bethel up 4-2 to cut the Royals lead to one.  Not more than 31 seconds later, the score was tied at four.

Bethel got on the board first when Jeff Balvin (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) scored his first of two goals just under 12 minutes into the game.  Lawrence University's Billy Siers answered shortly thereafter to make it 1-1.

The second period saw a barrage of scoring as both Bethel and Lawrence scored three times.  Steve Eastman (Sr., Edina, Minn.) gave the Royals a brief lead when he scored with the help of Balvin.  The Vikings came charging right back with a goal by Mark Howe.

Less than a minute and a half later, Eastman scored his sixth goal of the season, again with the help of Balvin.  The assist gave Balvin his 100th career point as a Royal, making him the 15th player in school history to reach the century mark.  Center and MIAC Player of the Week Dan Bonne (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) also reached the 100 point plateau last week against Gustavus.

Then the 13th minute of the second period happened.  Three goals in the span of 41 seconds knotted the game up at 4-4 where it stayed until the third period.

When it was all said and done, the Vikings scored four unanswered goals before Balvin struck again for his fourth goal in two games, pulling the Royals within one.  Brent Kettlekamp (Jr., Richfield, Minn.) scored a power play goal at the 12:43 mark of the third period to tie the game at 6-6, which is where it stayed through the remainder of the period and the five minute overtime.

With his four points, Balvin now leads the team in scoring and is now for the league lead in overall scoring with 26 points.

The Royals move to 9-5-2 overall with the tie, while Lawrence is now 5-10-2.  Bethel will stay on the road as they head to Concordia for a weekend doubleheader in Moorhead, Minn., starting at 7 p.m. on Friday.
