Gustavus hands Bethel 7-1 loss

Gustavus scored three goals in both the first and second periods on their way to a 7-1 win over the visiting Royals.

Sandra Felten (Jr., Cashton, Wis.) scored Bethel's lone goal on their only shot on goal in the second period with the help of Olya Meunier (Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) and Bethany Murphy-Aultman (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.).  Felten now has nine goals on the season and 32 in her career.

Goalie Beth Spurrier (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) recorded 41 saves on the afternoon.

Gustavus capitalized on three of their five power play opportunities, while Bethel was unable to take advantage of the extra skater during the Gusties three penalites.

The Royals drop to 6-7-1 overall and 3-5 in the MIAC.  The #5 nationally ranked Gusties improve to 8-0 in the conference and 13-1 overall.  Bethel will return home to take on Concordia-Moorhead for a weekend doubleheader next Friday and Saturday.  The puck will drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bethel University Arena in Blaine, Minn.
