ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - St. Benedict got one goal, and that's all they needed against the Royals this afternoon. Emily Willaert scored at the 29:24 mark of the first half, helping the nationally ranked Blazers stay undefeated in conference play and overall.
Bethel goalie Charli Sorensen (Jr., Park Ridge, IL) gave another outstanding performance in the net, recording 15 saves overall. Sorensen has allowed just three goals in her last four games.
The Royals were only able to muster six shots on goal, none of which were able to slip by Blazer goalie, Shannon Strohm.
Defensively, the Royals did a good job of containing St. Benedict without the help of Kylie Dirks (Jr., Excelsior, MN), who sustained a concussion in Bethel's 1-1 tie against St. Catherine last Saturday. Dirks is expected to be able to play this Friday when the team travels to play against Macalester College in a night game starting at 7:30 p.m.
