ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Five different players scored goals for the Royals as they defeated non-conference opponent Martin Luther College 9-1 on a sloppy, rainy Tuesday at Ona Orth Athletic Complex. Martin Luther's defense frustrated Bethel for the first 20 minutes of the game, until Allison Kishaba (So., Eau Claire, WI) knocked in her fourth goal of the year.
Allison and Jessie Tschetter (Sr., Sioux Falls, SD) scored the next two goals for Bethel, making it 3-0 in favor of the Royals at the half.
Then the flood gates opened – both literally and figuratively.
A hard, steady rain pelted the players for the remaining 45 minutes, creating a grassy Slip N' Slide that worked in favor of the Royals as they proceeded to score six more goals.
Krista Polding (Fr., Waconia, MN) added two goals, while Tschetter tallied her second on the day – all within the first 7:30 of the second half.
In between Jami Johnson's (Fr., Fergus Falls, MN) two goals, Martin Luther's Bonnie Whittaker was able to get one by goalie Charli Sorensen (Park Ridge, IL) for the Knights lone goal of the day. Sorensen saw little action on her end, as the Royals were able to control the ball for a majority of the game.
Sarah Tommerdahl (So., Fergus Falls, MN) found the back of the net for the first time this season to round out Bethel's scoring at the 81:30 mark of the game.
Bethel improves to 4-3-0 overall for the season with their next game scheduled to be against conference opponent St. Catherine at 1 p.m. this Saturday at the Orth Complex.
