Royals get conference schedule underway with split of Macalester in pair of one run games

April 9, 2007

Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
- The Bethel baseball team opened up Hargis Park for the first conference games of the season on Monday. The field was suffering from the second frost melt of the season, but was made playable through hard work and the sun.

The game was delayed, but the Royals still started out quick grabbing all four of their runs in the bottom of the second inning. Dana Hegman started things off with a single and was followed by Mike Gaustad who added a single of his own. John Buteyn followed the leader stroking a single and was followed by a sacrifice fly by Ryan Doheny to score Hegman. Ted Erickson cleared the bases when he drove a curveball for the first homerun at Hargis this year. These would be the only runs the Royals would score all game as Macalester's pitcher Ted Kimble recovered well and shut Bethel down the rest of the way.

Isaac Hamilton turned in another great game for the Royals throwing seven strong innings and improved his record to 4-1. He allowed three runs on seven hits in his first outing since the Stevens Point game on March 21.
