Royals playoff hopes remain alive after 63-51 win over Macalester; Hansen leads Bethel with 23

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.- Senior night for Bethel turned out to be a triumph as the Royals were able to hold off the Scots from Macalaster 63-51. In a sloppy game, with the combined turnover total at 50, the Royals were able to overcome a two point halftime deficit by outscoring Macalaster 37-23 in the second half. Bethel shot 39% for the game, while the Scots shot just 31%.

For Bethel, freshman Kiersten Hansen had the best game of her young career, putting in 23 points and pulling down five boards. Annegret Nautsch also had her third straight double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, while JoLynn Thielke had a nice game of eight points and four steals.

For the Scots, the trio of Elise Pagel, Danielle Johnson and Trina PaStarr put in 11, 16 and 10 points, respectively to lead their team. Johnson also had six rebounds, and PaStarr added 10 more. Callie PaStarr also had a nice night of five points and six steals.

Bethel is now 10-13 in the MIAC with a 9-11 overall mark as they continue to fight for one of the remaining playoff spots. Macalaster falls to 5-15 in the MIAC with a 7-16 overall record. Bethel's next game is this Wednesday, as they take on St. Mary's at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
