ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Royals earned a series split with the St. Benedict Blazers by defeating them 3-1 on the road.
Sandra Felten (Jr., Cashton, Wis.) scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season, while
Bethany Murphy-Aultman scored her fourth goal of the season to give Bethel the offense they needed to avenge last night's 5-3 loss.
St. Benedict took a 1-0 lead with 4:15 remaining in the second period when Gretchen Leyendecker took advantage of a power play opportunity.
Bethel did one better in the third period, scoring two power play goals, and all three of their goals in less than five minutes.
The Royals outshot the Blazers 40-22.
Beth Spurrier (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) recorded 21 saves on the afternoon.
Bethel is now 3-3 in the MIAC and 4-4-1 overall. St. Benedict drops to 3-2 in the conference and 3-4 overall.
The win allows Bethel to end 2007 and begin 2008 on a winning note, as this was their last game until next year. The Royals return to action against UW-River Falls at 4 p.m. on Sat., January 5, 2008, at Bethel University Arena in Blaine, Minn.
