Box Score

BLAINE, Minn. -
The Royals scored two goals in the third period against St. Benedict, but it would not be enough as the Blazers emerged victorious 5-3.

St. Benedict's Maggie Kinney did the most damage against Bethel by scoring a hat trick.  Her first goal put the Blazers on the board first, less than five minutes into the game.

Bethel came back to even the score at one apiece just 13 seconds later when Mary Foster (So., St. Paul, Minn.) scored with the help of captain Amy Beitzel (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.).

Kinney then scored her second goal of the night with 6:56 remaining in the first period.  Ashley Rebeck and Patty King added to the Blazers lead by scoring goals in the second period.

Down 4-1, Bethany Murphy-Aultman cut St. Benedict's lead in half by scoring her second goal of the season early in the third period with the help of Julien Olson (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.).

Kinney made the game 5-2 when she scored her third goal of the night with 6:12 remaining.  Murphy-Aultman came back 36 seconds later to score her third goal of the season with Olson and Kassy Sullivan (Fr., Roseville, Minn.) getting the assist.

The Royals fall to 3-4-1 overall and 2-3 in the MIAC.  St. Benedict improves to 3-1 in the conference and 3-3 overall.  The same two teams will face off against each other again on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud, Minn.
