UW-Superior hands Bethel 6-1 loss

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Royals struggled to find an offensive spark against the UW-Superior Yellowjackets and were defeated 6-1 on the road.

Christian Fogerty (Fr., Forest Lake, Minn.) scored Bethel's lone goal with 12:08 remaining in the third period with the help of Brett Kettlekamp (Jr., Richfield, Minn.)and Kent Bostrom (Jr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) to avoid the shutout.  Fogerty now has eight goals on the season, tying him with Bostrom for the team lead.

UW-Superior scored two goals in each period and outshot the Royals 42-22.  Kevin Huck and Andrew MacKenzie did a majority of the damage to Bethel, as Huck had a hat trick, while MacKenzie had two goals and an assist.

Bethel entered the game having received votes on the latest USCHO poll and had not lost by more than three goals since they were defeated by Augsburg 5-1 on Dec. 8, 2006.

The loss drops Bethel to 8-3-1 overall before heading into their winter break while UW-Superior improves to 6-4-4 with the win.  The Royals next game will be against #6 UW-River Falls in a rematch of last season's first round NCAA Playoffs.  Face off will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Bethel University Arena in the Schwan's Super Rink.
