ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel and Hamline played an almost even game in terms of shooting percentage, but the Royals prevailed 84-81 to stay undefeated.
Gabriella Gustafson (Jr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) scored 26 points, including a free throw with 11 seconds remaining to put Bethel up by three. Hamline's Rochelle Sather missed a three-pointer with time running out, giving Bethel the win.
The Royals led most of the game, but never by more than seven points. Both teams shot 39-percent from the field, 21-percent from three-point land, and just shy of 70-percent from the free throw line.
Hamline's Mary Wilkowski also had 26 points and snagged 10 rebounds to lead the Pipers.
Annegret Nautsch (Jr., Seattle, Wash.) racked up 20 points and two blocks for the Royals. She had 10 rebounds in the game, of which nine were defensive rebounds. However, Hamline held the edge in total rebounds with 55 to Bethel's 42.
Bethel improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC. Their next game will be against Gustavus at 7:30 on Monday at the Robertson Center. Hamline drops to 1-1 in the conference and 2-1 overall.
