FON DU LAC, Wis. - Bethel fell behind 3-0, but came back to score four unanswered goals to defeat Marian College in overtime and stay undefeated.
John Kovacs (Jr., White Bear Lake, MN) scored just past the midway point of the third period to make the game 3-3. Dan Bonne (Sr., White Bear Lake, MN) then scored with 1:03 remaining in the overtime period to give Bethel the win.
Kent Bostrom (Jr., Vadnais Heights, MN) scored his team-leading 6th goal of the season, while Christian Fogerty (Fr., Forest Lake, MN) added a goal and an assist in the effort as well.
The Sabres scored all three of their goals within a 10 minute time frame. Carl Bresser scored a shorthanded goal late in the first, Mitch Bye scored early in the second, and Jeffery Wills added a power play goal shortly after Bye's.
But from that point on, All-MIAC goaltender Aaron Damjanovich (So., Remer, MN) and the Bethel defense played lights out hockey, allowing the Royals to climb back in the game. Damjanovich had 46 saves during the game, of which 37 came in the first two periods.
Bethel improves to 4-0-0 on the season and will begin conference play next weekend at home against St. Thomas in a rematch of last season's MIAC playoff championship game, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m.
