MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Cobbers got a hat trick from Rachel Lewis and continued their winning ways by defeating Bethel 4-1, extending their win streak to 12 games. They have not lost since St. Scholastica beat them 1-0 back on Sept. 9.
Esther Sowles (Jr., Waconia, MN) scored her 8th goal of the season for the Royals with the help of Kylie Dirks (Jr., Excelsior, MN) and Breanna Posey (So., Champlin, MN) 18 minutes into the game. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
Lewis scored all three of her goals in less than seven minutes – each less than 13 minutes into the game. Laura Frazier tacked on a goal for the Cobbers at 30:47 making it the first time this season Bethel goalie Charli Sorensen (Jr., Park Ridge, IL) has been scored on more than three times in one game.
Other than Sowles' goal, the Royals were again limited to a very low number of shots on goal. Krista Polding (Fr., Waconia, MN) was the only other player to make Cobber goalie Britt Reiersgord earn a save.
The loss drops Bethel to 7-8-2 overall and 2-6-2 in conference. Concordia improves to 14-2-1 overall and 9-0-1 to keep them in first place in the MIAC. The Royals have one chance left to surpass their win total from last year when they take on St. Mary's at 3:30 this Saturday in Winona to close out the season.
