Cobbers blank Royals 3-0 in Moorhead

October 23, 2007

MOORHEAD, Minn. - Barely two weeks ago, the Royals were riding high at 6-1 in MIAC play after knocking off #18 Carleton in Northfield.  Now, after three straight losses to conference opponents – including a 3-0 loss to Concordia tonight – Bethel has just one match left to solidify a post-season berth.

The first game stayed relatively even until Concordia began to pull away at 15-15, causing Bethel to fall 30-25.

The Royals came back in game two and led until 15-15 again, when the Cobbers regained the lead and momentum.  Concordia went on to win by a score of 30-21.

Game three saw the Cobbers dominate most of the game, only letting the Royals tie the score at 13 before going on to win 30-26.

Amy Anderson (Sr., Alexandria, MN) led Bethel scorers with 15 kills.  Liz Glesne (Sr., Underwood, MN) was limited to just 10 kills, but did have 14 digs.

Angie Bonde tallied 16 kills for Concordia.  The Cobbers had 9 service aces compared to Bethel's 3.

The loss drops Bethel to 21-7 overall and 6-4 in the MIAC.  Concordia improves to 16-6 overall and 8-2 in conference.  The Royals play their last regular season home game at the Robertson Center on Saturday against the College of St. Catherine at 3 p.m.
