ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Maybe the Royals should play in the rain every game. Rain and gusts of wind during the entire game made the playing conditions less than ideal, but the Bethel women's soccer team brought their high octane offense back to life, defeating Northwestern College 7-0 at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The last time they played in similar conditions, they defeated Martin Luther College 9-1.
Kristin Kishaba (Jr., Eau Claire, MN) led Bethel offensively, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. Esther Sowles (Jr., Waconia, MN) scored two goals as well, giving her 6 on the season. Jessie Tschetter added to her team leading goal total, scoring her 10th of the season. Krista Polding (Fr., Waconia, MN) and Kelsey Dewey (Fr., Buffalo, NY), rounded out Bethel's scoring with their 3rd and 2nd goals, respectively.
Northwestern was only able to fire off 4 shots on goal compared to Bethel's 23, helping goaltender Charli Sorensen (Jr., Park Ridge, IL) record her 1st shutout of the season.
With the win, the Royals improve to 5-5-1 overall, while Northwestern drops to 3-6-1 on their season. Bethel's next game will be in Northfield for a conference game against Carleton this Saturday at 1 p.m.
