ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel Royals played their final home game of the 2007 season in a steady rain downpour, and lost 2-0 to Augsburg.
The Auggies Kelsey Duerr scored on a penalty kick at the 16:58 mark of the first half, giving Augsburg all they would need. Eric Johnson (So., Bloomington, MN) was penalized for a hard tackle as Duerr advanced toward the net. Nick Manders scored another goal on a scramble in front of the net shortly after a corner kick late in the second half to seal the victory.
Bethel was out shot 14-8, and while goalie Nick Kantor (So., Buffalo, MN) again had a solid performance, the offense was unable to get on the board to help him.
The Royals drop to 0-8 in MIAC play, and 3-13-0 overall, while Augsburg improves to 4-4 in conference and 8-7 overall. Bethel has two chances left to get a conference win this year. They play against Concordia Moorhead a week from Wednesday, and St. Mary's a week from this Saturday.
