Sorensen gets another shutout, Royals defeat Gustavus 2-0

October 13, 2007

Breanna Posey

ST. PETER, Minn. - Charli Sorensen (Jr., Park Ridge, IL) recorded her second consecutive shutout and third of the season, while Jessie Tschetter (Sr., Sioux Falls, SD) scored her 12th goal of the year as Bethel defeated Gustavus 2-0.

Tschetter scored 38:52 into the game with an assist going to Breanna Posey (So., Champlin, MN).  Posey scored her first goal of the season less than three minutes later, giving Bethel all they would need for a win.

The goal gives Tschetter 33 season points and 68 career points, enough to eclipse former teammate Lauren Johnson's point total of 67, landing her in second place overall on Bethel's all-time points leader board.

Goaltender Sorensen has also been making marks of her own.  The shutout means she has now played 208:24 without surrendering a goal.  She is just 102 saves shy of current saves leader Jennie Pulford who played from 2001-2004.

The win gives Bethel a 2-4-2 record in MIAC play and a 7-6-2 record overall.  Their next game will be on the road against Augsburg at 6:00 p.m. a week from today.
