Northfield, Minn. - Its been a tough season for the Bethel Royals mens soccer team so far. Coming into Wednesdays game against St. Olaf, they'd only won three games total, and none of them against conference opponents.
Unfortunately, after their 1-0 loss against the Oles, the Royals find themselves still looking for their first win in MIAC play.
Bethel managed to tally just two shots on goal, one by
Andreas Scott (Fr., Cedar, MN), the other by
Matt Vanbenschoten (Jr., Minnetonka, MN) - compared to 14 by St. Olaf. One of them, a shot by Barrett Kennedy, managed to get past goalie
Nick Kantor (So., Buffalo, MN) at the 35:35 mark of the game, and that's all the Oles needed.
The loss drops Bethel to 0-6 in the MIAC and 3-11 overall. St. Olaf moves to 4-2 in conference and 8-6 overall. The Royals return to Arden Hills to take on nationally ranked Gustavus at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
