Royals three goal third leads to 5-0 shutout win over Johnnies

BLAINE, Minn.
- In a key MIAC game for the Bethel men's hockey team, the Royals relied on a high power offense and great goaltending en-route to a 5-0 win over St. John's.

After mounting a 2-0 lead after two periods, Bethel was able to cap off the night with three straight third period goals. More impressively, St. John's led the game in shots on goal, 29-28, but Bethel 's goalie Aaron Damjanovich posted a shut out to keep the Johnnies off the scoreboard.

Bethel had four different players score goals, including freshman forward Patrick Dynan's two goal night. Jon Kramer and Brad Peterson each had a nice night of one goal and one assist while Dan Bonne added a goal of his own. Nick Miller and Bill Menozzi each helped in the winning cause with two assists, and Kent Bostrom, Neal Carlson and Benoit Duhamel also had assists.

St. John's was led in shots by Blake Williams and Joel Stacklie, who each had five on the night, and Pat Connelly, who added three more.

The Johnnies' goaltender, Andy Cook, played 51 minutes and stopped 23 Royal shots before being replaced by Vince Wheeler.

Bethel improves to 6-7-1 on the year, with a 3-1-1 MIAC record. St. John's falls to 5-10-1, with a 2-5 MIAC record. Bethel now travels to St. John's tomorrow night to complete the series at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Game time is 2 p.m.
