Bethel falls to Amherst; Sewanee game cancelled due to rain

FORT MYERS, Fla.
- The Bethel Royal Baseball team struggled again on offense scoring five runs on only three hits in a 10-5 loss to Amherst College in Ft. Myers. The defense also struggled again as the Royals committed four errors in the field. Leading the Royals for the day was Brandon Carr (Fergus Falls , MN) who went 1 for 3 with two runs scored.

The game started out promising as Amherst starter Mike Hinckley walked the first four batters and gave up three runs before being pulled with no outs in the first. However, Ben Goldfarb relieved him and shut the Royals (5-5) down for most of the game. Amherst scored runs in the second through sixth innings capping it off with five runs in the sixth. The Royals scored one run in the fifth after a Brandon Carr triple and a sacrifice fly by Ted Erickson ( Blaine , MN ). They also scored in the eighth on a hit batter and two sacrifice flies. Amherst out hit the Royals 18-3 in the game.
