MINNEAPOLIS
- The Bethel Baseball team split once again late Friday night against Loras College at the Dome. They looked poised to break out of their hitting woes with a strong 11-4 victory in game one, but were unable to score a run in game two, falling 4-0. Game one was highlighted by Mike Gaustad (Fergus Falls, MN) who went 3 for 4 with two RBI's and three runs scored. T.J. Therrien (Blaine, MN) also hit well going 2 for 4 with three RBI's.

Loras jumped out early in game one with a four run first inning, on four hits. However, junior Ethan Formo (Granite Falls , MN) settled in throwing four innings, giving up only the runs earned in the first. Bethel started to come back in the third, with three straight hits leading to a run and runners on first and third. Kris Pulford (Richfield, MN) got picked off of first, but lasted in the rundown long enough to allow Brandon Carr (Fergus Falls, MN) to score from third making the score 2-4. Bethel scored two more runs in the fourth on a clutch two-run single by Travis Wermedal (Wells, MN). Bethel took the lead for good with 7 runs on 9 hits in the next two innings, making the final 11-4. John Buteyn ( Eden Prairie , MN ) pitched three scoreless innings for the win.

Game two was a much different story however, as the Royals could only manage five hits, spoiling a solid pitching performance by sophomore Isaac Hamilton (Chaska , MN). Loras put up two runs in the third on a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice. Loras also added runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Bethel had five different innings with a runner in scoring position but were unable to capitalize on any occasion. Bethel will now head to Fort Myers , FL where they will play ten games in eight games. They will start things off this Friday with a game against #1-ranked Wooster College of Ohio.
