Royals split with Auggies

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
- Bethel split with Augsburg in their home opener Wednesday afternoon losing game one 6-5 in extra innings and winning game two 4-1.

In game one, Augsburg was led by Taylor Pagel and Andrew Werner who collectively hit 5 for 7 with five RBI's and two HR's. The Royals kept things close with two runs in the 4th and 5th falling just short of Augsburg. Kirby Carr carried the load for the Royals in game one batting 2-4 with 2 RBI's and a HR. Senior Ryan Mahoney took the loss and Augsurg's Tyler Kraft came in relief to get the win.

For game two, John Sugihara set the tone for the Royals allowing only 5 hits and one earned run in 5 innings of play. Luke Ludvigson then came in pitching two scoreless innings to get his first save of the year. Bethel spread out the scoring in game two as they added runs in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th to win 4-1. T.J. Therrien finished batting 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Zach Ludvigson also contributed with a 5th inning HR.

Bethel is now 9-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Royals now travel to Iowa to take on Simpson for a 12:00 p.m. matchup.
