Eleven-run eigth inning leads to 20-1 romp of Northwestern

ROSEVILLE, Minn.
- Bethel opened up a close game in the eighth inning as they rolled to a 20-1 win over Northwestern College. Holding a 3-1 lead after seven innings, the Royals exploded for 11 runs in the eighth and six runs in the ninth as they won their 15th game of the season.

In the eight inning, Bethel collected their 11 runs on nine hits and left two on base. Sophomore centerfielder Kirby Carr went 2-2 with six RBI's in the inning, including his first career grand slam and also singled in two runs. Freshman Kris Pulford and senior Peter Sycks each homered for their first time of the season.

In the ninth inning, the Royals scattered five hits, scoring six runs as sophomore Ted Erickson hit his first homer of the season.

Senior third basemen Zach Ludvigson lead Bethel with five hits on the door and scored four runs.

Senior Eric Drake and sophomore Luke Dalchow and Luke Ludvigson combined to give up 10 hits and just one run on the day.

Bethel's next game is Saturday, April 30 when they host Hamline University at Hargis Park on the Bethel University campus. Game time is 1 p.m.
