ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Bethel spotted Concordia a 7-0 lead after the Cobbers drove 48 yards on 12 plays to score on their first drive of the game. The Royals responded with a 72-yard drive to tie the score and proceeded to score the next 53 points as seven different players scored touchdowns.

Concordia contributed to Bethel's scoring by throwing three interceptions and giving up five fumbles. Senior cornerback Ben Matthews (Milaca, MN), the NCAA leader in interceptions, picked off two passes, returning the first for a 44-yard touchdown.

The Royals had a balanced offensive attack, rushing for a season-high 220 yards and throwing for 187 yards. Sophomore quarterback Scott Kirchoff (Hutchinson, MN) completed 8 of 17 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Deon Jordan (Long Beach, CA) led Bethel with three receptions for 90 yards, including 21 and 59 yard touchdowns. On the ground, sophomore Mike Johnson (Pine City, MN) led Bethel with 67 yards on eight carries.

Concordia was led by senior receiver Adam Strainer with 11 receptions for 152 yards and one touchdown. The Cobbers were held to 119 yards on the ground and fumbled eight times.

Bethel is 6-0 overall, 5-0 in the MIAC and travel to Carleton next week.
Concordia is 2-4 overall, 2-3 MIAC and host St. Olaf next week.
