Royals route Pipers for 41-14 Homecoming win

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
-- Junior tailback Josh Savageau (Blaine, MN) ran for a 61 yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game to lead the Royals past Hamline 41-14 in Arden Hills. Savageau ran for 126 yards on 15 carries, with two touchdowns. Bethel scored the first 31 points of the game in holding the Pipers to 271 total yards. Junior quarterback Bart Becker (Conrad, MT) completed 16 of 22 yards for 173 yards and one touchdown in his first start at Bethel. Senior receiver Jeremy Belisle caught eight passes for 106 yards and also threw one touchdown to junior fullback Ryan Ruisch (Johnston, IA). Junior receiver Eric Carlson (Wadena, MN) caught six passes for 74 yards. Bethel senior strong safety Kirk Midthun (Dodge Center, M N) intercepted two Piper passes as the Royals picked off Hamline five times on the day.

The Pipers were led by Joey Kvamme who rushed 22 times for 106 yards.
