Strong second half produces 31-14 win over Augsburg

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
- Bethel came back from a 7-3 halftime deficit to defeat Augsburg in Arden Hills. After a sluggish first half offensively, the Royals dominated the second half behind 126 yards rushing and two touchdowns from junior Josh Savageau. He also caught one pass for a 23 yard touchdown to put Bethel up 24-14 in the fourth quarter.

Bethel went ahead for good in the third quarter on a 63 yard pass from junior quarterback Bart Becker to sophomore Jordy Hage. Becker finished the day completing 20 of 29 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Hage caught a career high seven passes for a career high 131 one yards and one touchdown. Senior Jeremy Belisle continued his assault on the Bethel record books, with eight receptions for 50 yards.

Defensively, Bethel was led by sophomore linebacker Ben Kidd with eight total tackles. Senior strong safety Kirk Midthun recorded seven solo tackles, including one sack for an 11 yard loss. He also returned three punts for 47 yards and two kicks for 29 yards.

The Auggies were led by junior quarterback Paul Tetzloff who threw for 250 yards and one touchdown, on 19 of 32 passing. Receiver Mark Johnson had a career high 158 yards receiving, which was also a season high for the team.
