The 2006-07 squad goes down as one of the best men's hockey teams in program history. The Royals completed a MIAC Regular Season Championship season with a 12-3-1 mark and winners of nine of their last 10. Making their third straight MIAC Playoff apperance and playing as the top seed, the Royals opened with a 5-1 victory over St. Olaf and then completed a comeback over St. Thomas with four answered goals claiming the title.
Bethel finished the season 18-10-1 on the year which is still the most wins in a single-season and was the best-winning percentage at the time. The 06-07 sqaud also holds team records in fewest goals allowed (82), best goals against average (2.83) and most shutouts (3). BU boasted three All-MIAC players and MIAC All-Rookie Team selection Aaron Damjanovich.

Making its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, Bethel kicked it off with a bang defeating No. 4th-ranked UW-River Falls on the Falcons home ice. A goal late in the third period from Benoit Duhamel and Aaron Damjanovich's 15 saves in the final period led the Royals to the second round and a game from the Frozen Four. Standing in their way was top-ranked St. Norbert who stood at 24-3-2 overall. In front of a capacity crowd of 2,025 the Green Knights bested the Royals large in part to a three-goal second period.
