Royals open season with runner-up finish

Rebekah Schulte finished fifth overall at the Augsburg Open.

RESULTS

MINNEAPOLIS--Rebekah Schulte led the Royals to a second-place finish at the Augsburg Open Saturday morning. The sophomore covered the 5K course in a time of 20:09.5, finishing in fifth place.

Madeline Cramer was the second Bethel athlete across the line, recording a time of 20:25.7. Emmy Inwards (10th, 20:28.2), Abigail Burr (12th, 20:40.6) and Katherine Mickelson (20th, 21:24.3) also scored for the Royals.

"Basically, as a whole, this was the best women's team race I've seen in my time at Bethel," head coach Joe Stephens said, noting that he was proud of the way his team competed, despite several athletes battling sickness. "I'm excited for the team to be fully healthy and then together we can reach for more."

Next up for the team is the St. Olaf Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 17.
