NORTHFIELD, Minn.—Entering the St. Olaf Invitational, head coach
Joe Stephens had two goals for his young team-gain experience and race well in a big environment. The Royals did that Saturday, finishing 15th in a field that included several national-ranked teams at the DII and DIII levels.
Emmy Inwards led Bethel, finishing the 6K course in 89
th place overall. Her time was 25:00, just ahead of
Abigail Burr, the Royals second-place finisher. Burr's time of 25:04 placed her 94
th.
Madeline Cramer (102
nd, 25:11),
Lydia Herath (148
th (25:59) and
Lindsay Johnson (181
st, 26:25) rounding out the scoring portion of the team.
"I thought the team did an excellent job," said Stephens. "They ran with focus and confidence. The course was muddy in places due to the recent rain, but we still had a number of PRs."
Next on the Royals' schedule is Friday, Sept. 30's Blugold Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
