ResultsST. PAUL, Minn. - Several members of the Bethel University men's cross country team raced on Saturday's at the St. Kate's Invite on the campus of St. Catherine University. Running without four of their top-5 runners, the Bethel men raced a short course 4000-meter race.
"Today's meet had a dual purpose," explained Bethel head coach
Joe Stephens. "To prepare some of our runners for the NCAA pre-national meet next week, and to provide a short-course 4000-meter race for others to develop some speed."
The Royals were led by Junior
Connor Haugen who pushed hard from the gun to earn a solid 16
th place finish (13:04). Sophomore
Christian Svennes had a good day by building from a conservative start to a 22
nd placing out of a field of 59 total runners.
"It was great to see Svennes put together a complete race," coach Stephens said. "Connor is a bit tired right now, however I'm confident he will find his legs in the near future. Overall, I think the fast first mile was a bit of a shock for some of our guys, however that's exactly why we needed to race them today."
The Royals return to action this coming Saturday the 17
th at the NCAA pre-national race hosted by UW-Oshkosh.
